History of origin

Potato Azhur brought Russian breeders. The originator of this variety is Zedek agrofirm. In 2017, a new variety was added to the state register of the Russian Federation. Gardeners began to actively propagate and implement it.

The openwork is recommended for cultivation in the Central region of Russia. This includes Moscow, Ivanovo, Vladimir, Ryazan, Kaluga, Bryansk and other areas. In the southern parts of the country, potato harvest can be obtained twice a season.

Description

Openwork - medium-early, table variety, which brings a good harvest. From the moment of emergence of shoots to full maturity of potatoes, 75-85 days pass. But you can dig it up 20-25 days earlier.

The plant forms a sprawling, vigorous shrub that can reach up to 45-55 cm in height. On it large leaves of dark green color unevenly grow. They have a wrinkled structure and a slightly wavy edge. At the top of the bush are inflorescences of large, light purple flowers.

Tubers of Azhura are of medium size and oval shape. Dense skin is painted in deep pink color. The surface of the potato is smooth, the eyes are small and shallow. The pulp contains a large amount of carotene, so it has a straw color. Taste is saturated, with a pronounced aroma.

Tuber weight is in the range of 100-120 grams. One bush can bring 8-15 root crops. From one hectare, gardeners on average receive 45-50 tons of crop. Small potatoes are rare, almost all potatoes are the same size.

Potatoes of this variety are characterized by a high starch content (about 14-16%), therefore it is widely used in cooking. Ideal for frying, cooking salads and soups.

Attention! After cooking, the flesh does not darken.

Advantages and disadvantages

Potatoes of this variety are very young, but promising. Openwork is characterized by several advantages:

  • Early ripening. Potatoes are eaten for food at the end of June - the first half of July.
  • Excellent presentation and taste. Suitable for sale.
  • High yield.
  • Bedrock of root crops is 95%. When creating favorable conditions, potatoes of this variety can be stored for a long time without spoilage.
  • It tolerates drought well and does not require frequent watering.
  • Unpretentious to the composition of the soil.
  • Not affected by potato cancer and scab, has moderate resistance to late blight.

The disadvantages of the Azhur potato are its susceptibility to the golden nematode. Landings are often attacked by Colorado beetles, wireworms, and moths. For the prevention of diseases it is recommended to treat the bushes with special preparations. Young tubers are subject to mechanical damage, as they have a thin and delicate skin.

Landing

Potato varieties Azhur planted in April-May, when the earth warms up to +12 degrees. With landing it is undesirable to delay. High or low air temperatures have a negative effect on the germination of tubers. Potatoes are planted on a flat, well-lit area. The best crop precursors are winter crops and legumes. Planting potatoes varieties of Openwork should not be close to tomatoes and apples.

In the autumn, humus or peat are applied to the plot at the rate of 1 bucket per 1 m2. Also added mineral fertilizers: superphosphate, potassium sulfate and wood ash. After fertilization, the soil is decontaminated, dug up and removed weeds. Lumps do not need to break. In the spring, the ground is loosened and raked. The procedure facilitates the access of water and air to the roots of the plant.

Attention! For fertilizer can not use fresh manure. Otherwise the tubers will be watery and tasteless.

15 days before planting, Azhur potatoes begin to germinate. Tubers are sorted out, rejected the sick and damaged. Then they are cleaned and washed, as bacteria can remain in the soil. Selected seed is disinfected in a solution of boric acid (1 tablespoon of powder per bucket of water). To activate growth processes, tubers are sprayed with a solution of potassium permanganate (2 g per 10 liters of water) or infusion of ash (2 cups per 4 liters of water). Potatoes are dried and cleaned in a bright place. The air temperature in the room should be from +12 to +16 degrees.

Azhura tubers are planted in the holes or grooves to a depth of 5-10 cm. The interval between the bushes should be about 25 cm, and between rows - 55-60 cm. If the fertilizers were not applied during the autumn digging, they should be separately filled in each well. This potato variety likes potash supplements.

Care

The Azhur potato is unpretentious, so it is enough to provide him with minimal care. It includes hilling, watering, loosening and removing weeds.

Watering and loosening

Despite the fact that this variety tolerates a lack of moisture, watering in a dry and hot summer will only benefit. Irrigation is carried out in the period when the sun exhibits the least activity in the early morning or late evening. On average 1 m2 It takes about 45-50 liters of water. Usually, the crop is irrigated once every 10-14 days, and during droughts every 4-5 days. With enough rainfall can be limited to three irrigations per season.

A few days after irrigation, the soil needs to be loosened, otherwise a crust forms on the surface of the earth. Also, gardeners recommend mulching between rows. The procedure will help retain moisture and prevent the emergence of weeds.

Hilling

Potato variety Azhur requires at least two hilings with an interval of 21 days. In some cases, the number of procedures may increase up to four times. Work carried out in cloudy weather, while the earth should be wet.

Shrubs begin to pile up when they grow to 8-12 cm. Re-hilling is carried out when shoots reach 25 cm in height. But before planting, the plant is cleared of weeds.

Important! During the flowering of potatoes, hilling should be carried out carefully, as tubers are formed during this period. Any careless action may damage them.

Top dressing

Variety Azhur positively relates to fertilizer. In order to achieve the desired effect, the potatoes need to be fed at each stage of its maturation. After the emergence of seedlings in the soil contribute organic matter. Manure or bird droppings are diluted in water at a ratio of 1:15 and insist for two days.

Before flowering, potatoes are fertilized with a solution of 1 tbsp. l potassium sulfate, 3 tbsp. l wood ash and 10 liters of water. Some gardeners prefer to spray the bushes with a solution of urea (300 g per 10 liters of water).

During the flowering period, both mineral and organic supplements can be applied to the soil. You can apply this composition: two tablespoons of superphosphate, a bucket of water and a mullein.
